Meet the Artist

Hi, I'm Kennedy DuBose.
I am the owner, founder, and face of Kendubart. I am an artist to my core, but I take extra pride in calling myself a fiber artist.
As a young kid I was drawn to the arts as a way to connect to some other force outside of myself- and I continue to honor that into adulthood. I picked up fiber arts as a 12 year old kid who learned to loom knit through Youtube, and have found power and heritage through my evolving practice.
I create for every generation before me that has practiced a craft. As an African American, that sentiment is at the core of all that I do. Crafting, alchemizing, and making something out of very little is in my veins.

I firmly believe craft is art. I use the word craft to honor the history of the practice, as I refuse to let craft fall into the same revisionist history art has fallen into. Craft does not need a seat at the art table. Craft needs its own table.
Outside of Kendubart, I enjoy creative writing, gymnastics, playing sudoku, and learning about meteorology. You can always hit me up if you're into any of these too!
Thank you for being here.
